Face Spring With Less

Spring is here! What's greater than added sunshine and longer days? The fact we all can use lighter foundation, less makeup, and lighter moisturizer. Just remember the lighter moisturizer still needs sunscreen or sunblock.

The difference in sunscreen & sunblock is in the way they protect the skin from UV rays. Sunblock literally blocks UV rays by forming a physical shield, while a sunscreen contains chemicals that absorb UV rays before your skin can. Make sure its broad-spectrum so it protects you from UVA (aging rays) and UVB (burning rays). Which number should you choose? No sunscreen can block all UV rays. Generally SPF 15 (which is FDA's minimum recommendation) blocks 93% UVB, SPF 30 blocks 97% UVB, and SPF 50 blocks 98%. So the difference between 30 and 50 is about 1 percent.

My favorite is Neutrogena Ultra Sheer dry-touch broad-spectrum SPF 55 sunscreen which is water resistant for up to 80 minutes before you have to reapply.
